CoSA VFX would like to welcome Tom Rolfe as our new local Head of Compositing/VFX Supervisor for our Vancouver studio. Tom brings with him a wealth of experience, having worked on an array of exciting films including Star Trek Beyond, V For Vendetta, Annihilation, and the Harry Potter movie series as well as receiving awards for his visual effects work, most notably for Bucketheads, an independent project based on the Star Wars franchise. In addition to his VFX work in features, as a well-rounded artist he has also contributed to immersive experiences for theme parks across the globe.
Being part of a partner-led company, where the founders are involved in a hands-on way, and working on local projects were all things that caught Rolfe’s attention about the company – as was the ability to be able to do “a bit of everything” to collaborate with the department on our current projects.
Tom goes on to share his excitement to be able to work with a company that is well established and open to growth in new areas as technology advances. “They’ve been going as a successful company for 10 years, and they’re trying new things like virtual production. They’re exploring options and adapting,” Tom pointed out, adding that he “felt the enthusiasm” when meeting with the partners at the studio.
Rolfe’s own goals at CoSA VFX include working with Global Head of 2D Kama Moiha to build a VFX road map and introduce new work flows and tools for the team. “They’re already doing a great job, so this is just making it even better,” he said. The growth of the CoSA VFX Vancouver studio gives the company the ability to more directly help the expanding slate of productions, and that is also appealing to Rolfe.
Tom Rolfe has already begun work at the studio as we approach a new wave of projects, and we are glad to have him as part of the team.
